Bryan Boehnke

Recorder

As a result of friendly music lesson exchanges between two families, Bryan Boehnke started playing recorder at the age of 8 and quickly fell in love with the instrument. He began his studies with Cléa Galhano and Mary Halverson Waldo, and enjoyed opportunities studying with artists including Marion Verbruggen, Matthias Maute, Wilbert Hazelzet, and Ricardo Kanji in masterclass and workshop settings. As a performer, he has presented solo concerts throughout the Upper Midwest, performed in a recorder-erhu duo in Tokyo, and was a finalist in Piffaro’s recorder competition. Today, he can be heard as a member of the UW Baroque Ensemble. When not playing recorder, Bryan enjoys running, making sushi, and arithmetic geometry.
