A native of Portland, baritone Jacob William Herbert has been praised by the Oregonian for his, “consummate musicality.” While completing a degree in vocal performance at Arizona State University, Jacob had the great fortune to record multiple albums with the Phoenix Bach Choir (now Phoenix Chorale) and can be heard as a featured soloist on the Grammy award winning album, “Spotless Rose: Hymns to the Virgin.” As a strong proponent of the vocal compositions of J.S. Bach, Jacob helped found the Bach Cantata Choir of Portland, American Bach Series at All Saints’ (Phoenix Bach Festival), Coro Festival Teatro del Lago Chile, and has performed as featured soloist in Bachfest Leipzig. Locally, Jacob has been a guest soloist with Seattle Pro Musica and Symphony Tacoma Voices. While a guest artist with the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart, Jacob was thrilled to tour Europe, South America, and North Africa, under the batons of Helmuth Rilling, and Hans-Christoph Rademann. Recent performances include Bachfest Leipzig, Weinachtsoratorium with the Bach Cantata Choir of Portland, and the world premier of “Regeneration Parable,” by Dawn Sonntag. Jacob resides in Edmonds, and maintains an active voice studio as faculty at Edmonds College.
